Zadvernyuk Makes DI Commitment to Brown University!

Nov 16, 2023

Ivan Zadvernyuk has committed to play hockey for Brown University after this season with the Lone Star Brahmas (NAHL). The 6’3″ Forward and Alternate Captain is amid his second season with the Brahmas and has provided a steady presence on the ice and a force to be reckoned with at the face off dot.

Heavily recruited by many top level institutions over the past two seasons, it would seem that his patience has benefitted the decision. Ivan “Ivey” Zadvernyuk announced the big news on social media moments ago. Fans of Brown Bears Hockey will be pleased to know Zadvernyuk excels in whatever situation Coach Wildfong asks him to play in whether it be even strength, on the power play, or killing penalties.

Brahmas Head Coach and GM Dan Wildfong expressed pride and good tidings to the 2004 international, “As for myself and Assistant Coach Logan Murphy, we couldn’t be happier that he has made this announcement because he works hard and this the best kind of news we can deliver to hockey fans. We appreciate everything he does for the team. Congratulations to Ivan!” remarked Wildfong in his office following today’s morning skate.

Zadvernyuk was recently recognized by North American Hockey League as South Division’s Bauer Hockey Star of the Week (week of November 6th)…

“Lone Star Brahmas forward Ivan Zadvernyuk, 19, had a good weekend as the Brahmas split their road series against the El Paso Rhinos. The 6’1/190 lbs. native of Moskva, Russia, had three goals in the two games. On Friday, Zadvernyuk had the lone goal in a 2-1 loss. On Saturday, he scored two goals in a 5-0 win. For the season, Zadvernyuk is tied for the team scoring lead with 17 points in 19 games played. “Ivan is putting himself in great position to score goals because of his skating and skill set, and he had a great weekend on converting on his chances and making his shots count,” said Brahmas head coach Dan Wildfong.”

The Brahmas will play three games at NYTEX Sports Centre, Home of the Brahmas, during the Thanksgiving holiday season, starting with an early puck drop on Wednesday November 22nd against Corpus Christi, and then a weekend set against the defending Robertson Cup champion Oklahoma Warriors starting Black Friday, November 24th and ending with the traditional Teddy Toss on Saturday November 25th. The Teddy Toss game will have an encore presentation on Sunday afternoon at 1pm on local television KTXA Channel 21, DFW TXA21. Amazing seats remain available for online purchase, but there is a “low tickets remaining alert” for the Saturday November 25th Teddy Toss, so do not delay your ticket purchase!
