Year of the Fan: Pre-Season Coach Contest

Aug 13, 2015

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – The Lone Star Brahmas received over a dozen applications and essays to be the Brahmas coach for the day during the pre-season tilt against Wichita Falls on September 5th. Reigning "Fan of the Year" Keith Hendon's emotional essay stood out from the pack and thus, he will be on the benches coaching the Brahmas during their first home pre-season game.

"After reviewing many great essays, Keith's really stood out. It's clear he bleeds purple. His passion for this team and the game is contageous," Brahmas Vice President Chad Siewert said.

Hendon will join coach Jeff Potter and Al Rooney on the bench, while Dan Wildfong steps away from the ice to watch his team in action from the stands.

The Brahmas play a home-and-home pre-season series on September 4th and 5th against the Cats and then host the final pre-season game against the Corpus Christi IceRays on September 15th at 7:00 p.m. The Brahmas regular season schedule kicks off in Amarillo on September 19th and then the team heads to the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota days later.

Lone Star is holding a meet the team event on September 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the NYTEX Sports Centre lobby. That will also be the first day season ticket holders can pick up their tickets. The first home game will be on October 9th at 7:30 p.m. against the Amarillo Bulls.
