Weekend Wrap: Brahmas vs. Bulls

Oct 2, 2017

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX — It was a tale of two drastically different games for the Brahmas this weekend in Amarillo. As has been the case so often this season, goaltender Mitchell Gibson was the one constant for the team through the two games, stopping 27 of 28 shots on Friday and 30 of 32 on Saturday.

Friday’s game was the better of the two outings for the Brahmas, as they exploded offensively for a 6-1 win over the Bulls. It was their highest offensive output of the season and saw big nights from three Brahmas returners.

Julian Biondo scored the first of Lone Star’s six goals and picked up three assists on the night. Aidan Spellacy picked up three assists. The biggest performance, though, belonged to veteran forward Austin O’Rourke, who registered his first NAHL hat trick and added an assist on Biondo’s goal for a four-point night.

Jared Domin and EMack Bentley scored the other two goals on the night. Domin’s goal was his second and Bentley’s was his first NAHL goal.

Saturday’s game was a frustrating one in terms of offense, as the Brahmas found themselves on the wrong end of a shutout for the third time this season.

However, there was a goal controversy early in the game as EMack Bentley looked to score his second goal in as many games. A premature whistle took the goal off the board, however, and the Brahmas didn’t find the back of the net for the remainder of the game.
