Weekend Wrap: Brahmas Take Two Points in Amarillo

Nov 9, 2017

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX — After three straight weekend sweeps, the Brahmas’ six-game win streak came to a halt on Thursday night, as the red-hot Jason Grande posted his third straight shutout. That matched Brahmas goaltender Mitchell Gibson’s shutout streak to start the year.

However, Grande’s shutout streak came to an end the following night less than thirty seconds into the game courtesy of Julian Biondo.

Biondo has been one of the Brahmas’ most reliable offensive threats this season, putting up a point-per-game pace and galvanizing the team with his energetic style of play.

That early goal certainly put a jump in the Brahmas’ step that period, and it paid off later as Austin Bottrell scored a highlight reel goal to put the Brahmas up by two.

The Brahmas would hold that lead through the remainder of the first and the entire second period before finally surrendering a goal early in the third.

Although the Bulls came out strong in those final twenty minutes, Bottrell’s goal stood as the game-winner as the Brahmas kept the puck out of the net for the remainder of the game. Harrison Feeney picked up his second straight win and remains undefeated in regulation.

With the win, the Brahmas and the Bulls currently stand at 2-2 in the season-long Battle of the Cattle. The ongoing series will continue this weekend at the NYTEX Sports Centre on Friday and Saturday night. Puck drop is at 7:30 PM on both nights.
