Weekend Preview: Brahmas vs. Bulls

Nov 2, 2017

AMARILLO, TX — It’s Round Two of the Battle of the Cattle, as the Brahmas gear up to face the Bulls for four straight games over the course of the next two weeks.

The teams will be in Amarillo today and tomorrow before coming to the NYTEX Sports Centre to wrap up the four-game set.

So far, the season series between the two teams is even with one win apiece. The Brahmas’ last visit to the Amarillo Civic Centre yielded mixed results, with a 6-1 win (featuring an Austin O’Rourke hat trick) and then a 3-0 shutout loss.

Since then, though, the both teams have undergone some roster shakeups. On the Brahmas’ end, the addition of high-end forwards Ture Linden, Austin Bottrell, and Connor Pooley have provided a much-needed boost to the offense.

Linden (1-5–6) is currently on a four-game point streak. Bottrell (1-2–3) has a point in each of the games he’s dressed, and Pooley (1-4–5) was held off the scoreboard last weekend, but was all over the ice and had several high-danger chances.

Defensemen Ryan Orgel, formerly of the now-defunct Wichita Falls Wildcats, has chipped in offensively as well, with two goals and two assists since joining the Brahmas. Connor Stuart has also done quite a bit in stabilizing the back end, picking up a couple of assists of his own while playing heavy minutes alongside Drew Lennon.

The Brahmas’ goaltending situation remains stable, as Mitchell Gibson and Harrison Feeney continue to give the team a great chance to win on any given night.

In any case, the roster turnover has done the team some good, as the Brahmas have really begun to hit their stride. They’ve now completed three straight weekend sweeps and are riding a six-game win streak. They’ll hope to extend that to seven and eight games today and tomorrow.

The Bulls, meanwhile, are coming off of back-to-back shutouts, as goaltender Jason Grande

Puck drop today and tomorrow will be at 7:05 PM. If you can’t join us in Amarillo ,games will be streamed live on Hockey TV. Make sure to follow along by keeping an eye on our TwitterFacebookInstagram, and Snapchat accounts!
