Three In The Third

AMARILLO, TX – The Brahmas needed three goals in the final period of regulation to beat the Amarillo Bulls on Friday, 4-3.

In the opening minutes of the contest Tyler Drevitch buried a rebound that jumped off of the paraphernalia of Bulls netminder Brian Baker to give his team an early 1-0 advantage.  Very quickly the home team responded though, evening the game up thanks to Coale Norris.  Jeff Solow and Joey Molinaro picked up the assists on what would be the final goal of the first period.

Just 73 seconds in to the second Charlie Singerhouse beat Conor O’Brien shorthanded to give his team the lead for the first time.  The magnificent hands of the Hudson, Wisconsin native would contribute the solo goal of the second, thus giving his team a 2-1 place heading into the third.

The third period was the most explosive one though, as both teams went back and forth with goals until an eventual Sean Giles game-winner.  Brandon Estes earned his first career North American Hockey League goal to kick it off, but just minutes later was matched by Norris’ second of the night, thus giving Amarillo the lead once again.  However, that would be the last goal for the Bulls as Alex Berardinelli earned his 32nd of the season just 3:15 later.  Two minutes after that, the captain laced a power play drive home from the point to put his team on top, a position they would hold for the remainder of the contest.

Conor O’Brien earned the win in net, stopping 26 of 29.  His record for the campaign is now 13-5-5.

The Battle of the Cattle concludes tomorrow at the Civic Center, opening with a 7:05 puck drop.  If you can’t make the trip to the Panhandle, be sure to catch all the action on FastHockey.com.
