That's Bull

Dec 5, 2015

AMARILLO, TX – Round ten of the Battle of the Cattle proved to be a change in ways for the Amarillo Bulls who walked away with a 2-1 victory on Saturday night over the Brahmas.

For the second straight game things started sourly thanks to a fluky goal.  This time it was Cam Clarke behind his own net attempting to send a stretch pass but it actually grazed Bulls’ forward Michael Forman and then redirected past Corbin Kaczperski.

However, unlike the loss in Wichita Falls the Brahmas answered back quickly.  Just 14 seconds later Troy York made a nifty play in front of the net to find the puck and place a backhander on that beat Martinsson.

Things remained knotted at one until the end of the period but before the action wrapped up the Bulls’ lost their second leading scorer George Mika when he received a game ejection for checking Hogan Davidson from behind.

In the second Jacob Nitsche scored the only goal when he was parked in front of the power play.  A rip from the point was caught the shaft of his twig and changed directions before Kaczperski had any time to react.

Nicholas Santoro stirred the pot in the third period when after dumping a shot on “Kaz” from neutral ice he felt obliged to throw a massive hit on the Brahmas goaltender.  Gloves and sticks were dropped but the most severe penalty was the Robert Morris commit receiving a removal from the game.

Additionally in the third Carson Kelley made a saucy move to undress a Bulls defender, swindle on in and beat Anton Martinsson, however was robbed of the goal via the officiating crew.  Head referee Ian Jendro deemed the puck never entirely crossed the line, a controversial call to say the least.

Dan Wildfong’s bunch applied heavy pressure for the remainder, however could not beat Martinsson who made 44 saves in the winning effort.

The Brahmas will now return home for a two game set against Wichita Falls next weekend.  Friday, December 11 and Saturday, December 12 will be the final home games of the 2015 calendar year for the team and they’re sure to be loaded with fun consisting of Teddy Bear Toss & Star Wars nights!  Tickets are still available by calling 817-336-4ICE, atop your screen under the TICKETS tab or by stopping by the NYTEX Sports Centre box office.
