Showing Off At The Showcase

Sep 23, 2015

BLAINE, MN – The Brahmas began their NAHL Showcase with a resounding 5-0 victory over the Springfield Jr. Blues.

Largely dominating from the get-go, it was only 4:06 into the first frame when Cameron Clarke sprung Peter Bates on a cross-ice pass that allowed the center to go in alone and slide one five-hole to make it 1-0.  Springfield took five minor penalties in the first period.

In the second period it was the Brahmas turn to frequent the penalty box with five minors but despite the jailing the team found the back of the net three times.  Dalton Skelly sliced a seeing-eye shot from the right point after a great backhand feed from Tomas Brejcha, one of his two assists on the day.  Kyle Patava and Joey Fallon both scored gritty goals off of rebounds and loose pucks in front to make the score 4-0 after 40 minutes.

In the third Brejcha set up Martin Mellberg who snuck one up under the armpit to make it 5-0 and polish off the damage.

Standing in the Brahmas crease all game was the local boy, Darion Hanson, who stopped all 16 shots sent his way for his first NAHL shutout.

The Brahmas are back in action tomorrow at 4:15 P.M. against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs.  Stay tuned to all Brahmas social media for coverage leading up to and following.  Nick Marek and Walt Ruff will have the call on FASTHOCKEY.com.
