Offensive Expose

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – Thanks to an offensive explosion the Brahmas picked up a win over the Odessa Jackalopes on Friday by a score of 6-4.

The first period whistled buy with minimal stoppages and concluded with neither side recording a goal.  However, the second period would be a very different game.

Hampus Sjodahl recorded his first of the evening at the 6:35 mark to give the away side the lead but it wouldn’t last long.  Less than two minutes later Troy York evened up the contest while staked out in front, after Johan Lundgren sent one towards the front of the net while behind the cage.   The goal was the sixth of the season for York and it came on the power play.  81 seconds later Alex Berardinelli scored his first of the evening after yet another sweet feed from Lundgren.  Berardinelli would pot a few more the rest of the way but was followed suit by Cam Clarke who recorded yet another power play tally.  Lundgren picked up his third assist in four minutes, a crucial part of the offense tonight.

While many may be thrilled with three goals in one period, the offense continued to be relentless as Carson Kelley then became the next goal scorer after a nice feed from David Marabella.  Lastly, Berardinelli finished the Brahmas scoring in the frame after Martin Mellberg sent a saucer pass cross-ice for the Colorado College commit to finish.  Sjodahl would record yet another to round out the frame but the team still took a sizable 5-2 lead into the third.

Early in the final period Brennan Miller of Keller, cut the lead for the Jacks but again, moments later was answered back by Berardinelli.  A slew of hats dumped on to the ice for the hat trick, yet it wouldn’t be the only one of the evening.  Sjodahl got his three-piece with eight minutes left in the third, maintaining his fourth spot in the North American Hockey League scoring.

Conor O’Brien gets back to his winning ways in the net, stopping 15 of 19.  It was his 12th win of the season.

The two sides will duel again tomorrow night at NYTEX and puck drop is set for 7:30.  Tickets are available over the phone at 817-336-4ICE, at the box office or atop your screen!
