NORTH RICHLAND HILLS —

“I am extremely proud and excited to announce my commitment to play Division 1 college hockey and further my education at Niagara University! I am so thankful for my family, coaches, teammates and my friends who have helped me along the way! #GoPurpleEaglesRay “Razor” Murakami announced on Twitter this afternoon, shortly after informing the team of this tremendous opportunity. Murakami, veteran defenseman from Tomakomai, Japan was beaming with happiness exiting the ice from the Brahmas morning skate and received hearty congratulations from a proud organization.

“This is a fantastic day for Ray and his family,” said Lone Star Associate Head Coach Ryan Anderson. “He came to the NAHL to earn a college commitment and today it has become a reality. Ray has worked incredibly hard during his time with the Brahmas and we couldn’t be happier to have played a part in this accomplishment.”

“This really is great news for Ray, and his family, and the entire organization,” said Brahmas Head Coach and GM Dan Wildfong. “This type of opportunity furthers the career of the student athlete and strengthens our brand at the same time. Ray will do great there.”

“Coach Lammers and Niagara University are getting an amazing person that will fit seamlessly into their lineup and campus culture.” continued Ryan Anderson.

Murakami scored 18 points and 6 goals in 50 games played last season for the Brahmas, including all 9 playoff games.

The Lone Star Brahmas are home this weekend against the El Paso Rhinos at the Shoebox, the Main Arena of the NYTEX Sports Centre. Discount tickets are available for the Friday night game and impressive seating remains available for Saturday’s game as well, both starting with a 7:30pm puck drop. The NA3HL Texas Brahmas’ home opener is a Sunday matinee against the cross-town rival Mid-Cities Junior Stars. Stream all NAHL and NA3HL games on HockeyTV!
