NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – Corbin Kaczperski stole the show on Saturday, turning aside 16 shots in the team’s 1-0 shutout victory over the IceRays.

The first and second periods zoomed by scoreless with outstanding efforts from both Kaczperski and Dryden McKay of Corpus Christi.   Sean Giles came the closest to lighting the lamp after he rang one off the pipe, sending many off of their seats in the NYTEX Sports Centre.

Moments into the third period the Brahmas power play got an opportunity to hit the ice after IceRay Mason Krueger committed a high sticking minor.  Off the ensuing faceoff, Cam Clarke placed a shot on net only to be turned aside by McKay.  Unfortunately for his sake, the most dangerous striker on the Brahmas roster, Alex Berardinelli was in prime position to receive the “pass-off-pads” and slam it past the unable-to-recover IceRays netminder.

The goal was the Pennsylvania native’s 23rd of the season and 5th on the power play.

Despite a Tyler Drevitch rough and a too many men bench minor, the other side of the special teams remained perfect the remaining 17:20 to lock up a 1-0 win.

Kaczperski’s shutout is the second of the season for him and fifth overall for the team.  “Kaz”’s other shutout came back on Halloween when he turned aside 17 pucks against the Amarillo Bulls.  Tonight, 16 was the magic number.

Sunday will be a day of rest for the team but it’s a quick turnaround overall as the team bus departs for Corpus Christi on Wednesday.  There the team will play a three game set against the IceRays, concluding their second trip to the beach this season.

Following the road trip the Brahmas return to NYTEX for back-to-back home stints against the Odessa Jackalopes and Topeka RoadRunners.  Tickets for all four games are available atop your screen under TICKETS, over the phone at 817-336-4ICE, or at the box office at the rink!
