It’s (Home) Opening Night

Oct 8, 2016

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – The wait ends Saturday night as the Lone Star Brahmas play their first regular season home game of the 2016-17 season.

The home opener will be a match-up between two of the top teams in the South Division.  Amarillo comes to Tarrant County with a 5-4-1 overall record.  The last time the two teams played in the Battle of the Cattle, the Brahmas got the better hand winning 7-1 on the road.  Forwards Troy York and Drake Glover each recorded a hat trick in the statement season opening win.

Amarillo played like a different team at the NAHL Showcase, tying the Brahmas with an identical 3-0-1 record and finding a scoring touch.  Forwards George Mika and Kosta Likourezos are heavily carrying their team offensively and the rookie was honored as the NAHL’s Forward of the Month after leading the league in scoring with 14 points through ten games.

The Brahmas have yet to face netminder Nikita Babintsev, the Bulls statistical leading goaltender.  Alec Calvaruso secured his first NAHL win against the Bulls on September 17, stopping 25 of the 26 shots that came his way.

While it should be an exciting contest on the ice, do not overlook the thrills taking place inside NYTEX.  The first 500 fans in attendance will receive a free magnet schedule.  The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and No Limits Band will be performing from the Section P Summer Energy Party Deck from 6:45 to puck drop, during the intermissions, and after the game.

Following the game, fans are welcome to skate with the Brahmas for free and close the night grooving with No Limits.  Fans can get rental skates from the front desk after the conclusion of the game.  Order tickets now online or by calling the box office at (817) 336-4423.
