Throwback Thursday: The Arrival of Evan Googins

Jul 30, 2020

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX –In the weeks leading up to the 2020-21 season, we’d like to highlight some of the Lone Star Brahmas’ best moments from the 2019-20 year. This week, we’re showcasing the talent that Brahma Evan Googins brought to the squad after being traded from the Aberdeen Wings.

Googins played 12 games for the Wings, only recording five points (3g-2a) before joining the Brahmas on Nov. 1. After arriving in North Richland Hills, the forward nearly tripled his point total to 19 (14g-5a) in 32 games played. Googins averaged 0.59 points per game and ended the season with a +10. He ranked within the top five skaters on the Brahmas in power-play goals (5), game-winning goals (5) and shot percentage (25.5%). It’s safe to say the Braintree, Mass. skater definitely found his stride at NYTEX Sports Centre.

Take a look back at one of Googins’ best goals all season, a backhanded tap against the Corpus Christi IceRays on Jan. 25.
