Goodness Gracious Goodsir

WICHITA FALLS, TX – One point will certainly help, but the Wildcats ultimately walked away with two on Friday courtesy of Adam Goodsir in overtime.

The contest’s scoring opened up with Alex Berardinelli joining the 20 goal plateau after he blocked a shot on the penalty kill and scurried all the way to the house, beating Justin Kapelmaster on the breakaway.

Tyler Drevitch and Adam Goodsir both got their first of two on the night in the second, Drevitch’s giving the Brahmas a 2-0 lead.  Goodsir’s was followed by Jonatahan Lazarus' bank shot and the two teams split into the second intermission with the score tied at two.

Special teams were the storyline of the third period and the Wildcats took a 3-2 lead early in the frame thanks to Jeff Baum.  However, with just over a minute to go in the game and the extra attacker on, Drevitch got his second of the evening when he crashed the net and emphatically even the score.

In overtime, Martin Mellberg thought he had put the game away when he got a breakaway from the red line in and shimmy-shaked Kapelmaster.  A second effort from ‘Cats netminders appeared to have stopped the puck before crossing the goal line, but it was reviewed by the officiating crew.

After referee Michael Mendard deemed the rubber disc did not cross, play resumed and a minute and a half later, the youngest Wildcat beat Corbin Kaczperski to send the “KYC” crowd home happy.

The loss is Kaczperski's first in his last ten decisions.

Brahmas and Wildcats will face off again tomorrow at 5:00 in the final meeting between the two this season!
