Deersey's Birthday Party

Oct 10, 2015

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – Almost as if the Friday night party never stopped, the Brahmas raged into Saturday with the same goal scoring mentality, downing the Amarillo Bulls by a score of 6-1.

The Bulls actually controlled the first twenty minutes that left some scratching their heads wondering if they had actually figured out the Brahmas attack.  On the contrary from their previous performance, Lone Star only mustered four shots in the first frame.

In the second it was Oskar Andren who cracked open the scoring just after the minute mark.  Dawning a cage after taking a stick up high earlier, Andren saw the twine clearly off of a drop pass from Joey Fallon.  Martin Mellberg picked up his third point of the weekend with a secondary assist.  Moments later John Zimmerman picked up his first goal in a Brahmas sweater as he flicked a wrister on net from just inside the blue line.  The Bulls would pull back within one as Jake Houston scored their lone tally of the evening.

Amarillo’s attempt to crawl back into the game was very short lived as just eight seconds, yes eight seconds later, Carson Kelley struck before the Brahmas had any time to make any adjustments.  If that wasn’t enough of an answer, 28 seconds after that one, Cody Wickline continued his hot shift after adding a helper on Kelley’s goal.  It was Wickline’s third of the season.

A 4-1 lead heading into the third appeared to be firm enough but just in case Peter Bates added some insurance in the opening moments of the third frame.  For the second straight evening the Bulls ran out of energy in the third as the Brahmas completely jumped all over the possession.  To cap off the weekend, after a mass scrap the home team found themselves on the wrong end of a 5-on-3.  However, there’s no time the team couldn’t find offense tonight as Alex Berardinelli used his blazing speed and elusiveness to evade two Bulls’ defenders and burn Jacob Weatherly on a breakaway.

Corbin Kaczperski picked up his first win at NYTEX making 15 saves in the Brahmas 6-1 win.

The Brahmas now enter an off weekend but are back here at home on October 23 against the Wichita Falls Wildcats.  Tickets are available by calling 817-336-4ICE Monday-Friday 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. or by clicking HERE.
