COMMITTED: Collins to play for UMass Lowell

Feb 11, 2022

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS — Brahmas forward Jack Collins has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, the player announced Friday.

“I am extremely excited and honored to announce my commitment to play D1 college hockey for the University of Massachusetts Lowell,” said Collins, regarding his commitment. “I would like to thank my family, coaches, teammates, billets, and friends who have helped me along the way. I would also like to specifically thank Coach Wildfong for developing me these past few years, not only as a player, but as a person.”

A three-season veteran of the Brahmas, Collins has notched 24 points (10g-14a) in 39 games played during the 2021-22 season. The forward also represented the Brahmas at two NAHL Top Prospects tournaments, as well as holds one of three ‘A’s, or alternate captaincies, on the team. In addition, the Canton, NY native has already surpassed his previous two seasons’ points totals and sits in a top-five spot among all skaters on the team in scoring.

“This is a very exciting day for Jack and his family,” said associate head coach of the Brahmas, Ryan Anderson. “To be able to watch the growth in Jack’s game over the past three seasons has been a pleasure. What we are most proud of though, is the leader and person Jack has become on and off of the ice. Jack will be a player that we use as an example for years to come of what a Lone Star Brahma looks and acts like. ”

Collins is the second player in Brahmas history to skate for Lowell, with alumni including Austin O’Rourke. The program plays in the Hockey East Conference.

Jack Collins is the third NCAA commitment from the Brahmas current roster, with goalie Jan Skorpik committing to Long Island University and Artur Turansky committing to Miami University earlier this season. In the 2020-21 season, the Lone Star Brahmas was one of the top teams in the NAHL for college advancement with 20 commitments.
