College Commitment: Trazzera to play for Lawrence University University

Jun 24, 2021

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS — Brahmas defenseman and 2020-21 captain Joey Trazzera has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at Lawrence University.

“I am honored for the opportunity to begin my collegiate life and continue my hockey career at Lawrence University,” said Trazzera regarding his commitment. “I cannot express how much impact Brahma-land has had on my life, these 14 years have flown by way too fast. Thank you to my family, friends, fans and coaches for all they have committed to help make this dream possible.”

A true testament of the Ladder of Development, Trazzera played over 1,000 games over 14 seasons in a Brahmas sweater, starting as a mini mite and ending as the captain of the 2020-21 Lone Star Brahmas. Throughout his hockey career, the defenseman was a member of the NAPHL, skated for three seasons of hockey at Keller High School, and competed in the NA3HL for the Texas Brahmas, winning the Fraser Cup championship in 2019. In his senior season, the skater would play 53 games–the second-most on the squad. As he enters his collegiate career, Trazzera intends to study pre-medicine.

“On behalf of the entire Lone Star Brahmas Organization, we would like to congratulate Joey on his recent commitment to Lawrence University,” said the assistant coach of the Lone Star Brahmas, Andrew Whiteside. “Joey is obviously no stranger to the Brahmas – developing his game from the youth to junior levels. Joey was a leader for us this season and someone who continued to improve his game as the season went on. We would like to wish Joey the best of luck at Lawrence. They are getting a great hockey player, but an even better person!”

Trazzera is the third Brahma to commit to Lawrence’s program, with alums Mattais Soderqvist (2013-14) and Vincent Dekumbis (2016-17) suiting up for the Vikings.

“We are really looking forward to having Joey join our program,” said head coach of the Lawrence men’s hockey program, Michael Szkodinski. “He has the skills to be an immediate impact player and we know he will be a tremendous teammate. We are certainly excited to work with Joey and watch him grow over the next four years.”

Trazzera is the 26th player from the 2020-21 Brahmas roster to enter NCAA hockey play next season.
