NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS — Brahmas defenseman Malcolm Palmer has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at Stevenson University.
“I’m super excited for the next chapter in my life at Stevenson University,” said Palmer, regarding his commitment. “It’s truly an honor to continue my hockey and academic career at a great university like Stevenson. I’d like to personally thank Coach Wildfong and all my teammates that helped me get to where I am as a player and person, and who gave me nothing short of an incredible two years. As well as all Brahmas staff and Brahma fans, I can’t thank you enough for all the support through great times and hard times; you were there supporting and being the best in the NAHL. Thank you, Brahmaland.”
Palmer manned the blueline for the Brahmas for two years, totaling 87 games. In his tenure at NYTEX, the defenseman recorded 23 points (3g-20a) and finished his NAHL career with a +23 rating. The skater came to the Brahmas in 2019 after playing in the Central Canada Hockey League for the Ottawa Jr. Senators and the Pembroke Lumber Kings. Palmer played youth hockey for the Ohio Blue Jackets AAA organization back in his home state.
“The Lone Star Brahmas are extremely proud of Malcolm and his commitment to Stevenson University,” said the assistant coach of the Brahmas, Andrew Whiteside. “Malcolm has been an anchor for us on the back-end for two seasons. He leads by example both on and off the ice and was a great example for our younger players to look up to. We wish Malcolm the best of luck on his future academic and athletic endeavors!”
Palmer is the second Brahma to commit to the Stevenson program, with alum Mark Bowen (2014-15) also donning the Mustang sweater.
Palmer is the 23th player from the 2020-21 Brahmas roster to enter NCAA hockey play next season.
