College commitment: DeCarlo commits to Air Force

Nov 27, 2020

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS — Brahmas forward Andrew DeCarlo has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at the United States Air Force Academy, the player announced Saturday.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to play Division 1 hockey at the Air Force Academy,” said DeCarlo, regarding his commitment. “I want to thank all of my coaches, teammates and billet families that have helped me get here, with a special thanks to my parents and sister for all of their support over the years. Who knew starting out as a roller-kid in Huntington Beach, California, would lead to playing for and serving the Air Force. I can’t wait to be a Falcon, the stoke is high.”

The skater is currently on an eight-game point streak, totaling 13 points (3g-10a) in nine games played. DeCarlo has appeared in all contests played by the Brahmas in the season thus far. In addition, the forward is first on the team in assists, second in points, and fourth in goals scored. He is third across the entire North American Hockey League in assists made and fifth in points.

DeCarlo is the third Brahma to commit to Air Force, with current Brahma Mitchell Digby and alums Sam Brennan (2017-20) and Thomas Daskas (2018-20) also suiting up for the university. Before the cancellation of the 2019-20 men’s hockey season, Air Force recorded a record of 12-18-6 (W-L-OTL).

DeCarlo is the third NCAA commitment from the 2020-21 roster, along with Nicholas Niemo (Bentley University) and Zach Purcell (American International College). In the 2019-20 season, the Lone Star Brahmas led the NAHL in player commitments with 16.
