Brahmas Take Battle of the Cattle: Round One

Sep 19, 2015

AMARILLO, TX – The Lone Star Brahmas walked into the Amarillo Civic Center for their regular season opener on Saturday night and walked out with a 1-0 start to their season.

In a game that the Brahmas dominated in the shot category (40-15) it wasn’t until the late second period when Cody Wickline buried a short-handed goal to break open the scoring.  Assisting Wickline’s goal was Alex Berardinelli, who stayed hot after being the lone member of the team to record a goal in all three pre-season games.

Wickline wasn’t done in the point category though as he found fellow returner Peter Kessel just over a minute into the third period to make the score 2-0.  On the goal Joey Fallon officially recorded his first point in the NAHL with a secondary assist.  However, the Bulls made it interesting as just three minutes later as Tyler Harkins found the back of the net returning the contest to a one goal game.

The Brahmas were able to hang on for the final 15 minutes, thanks in large part to Conor O’Brien, to secure the victory.  The rookie goaltender from Pinellas Park, FL recorded 14 saves on the way to his NAHL win.

With a 1-0 record the team will return back to North Richland Hills before departing for the NAHL Showcase early next week.  Your next chance to see the team at the NYTEX Sports Centre is Friday, October 9th for their home opener.  For tickets, call 817-336-4ICE or visit our website where single game tickets are on sale now!
