Oh, how good it is to be home! The Lone Star Brahmas brought in very next team ahead of them in the NAHL South standings, the Corpus Christi Ice Rays Friday night. The result was amazing. A good first period ran into an even better second period with an explosion of 3 goals from the Brahmas. However, it gets better! How you may ask? This was the final! 3 to zip. The Black Curtain Goalie, TJ Black , completed yet another shutout. The 3 points came from 3 different Brahmas, #20 Michael Crowley, #8 Connor Enciso, and #24 Alexey Solovyev. Not to mention that all total, 9 different Brahmas, that is correct! 9, put points into their stats in tonight’s game. After a rough road trip after the Christmas break, the Brahmas look to make 2014 their year.

Saturday night, after their performance last night and the intriguing way it ended, we fully expected this one to be exciting. After the Brahmas took the Ice Rays out to pasture with a shutout, Corpus wasn’t going to go down without a fight. With goals from the Captain Matt Lison, the aptly hockey named Gordie Helmuth, and a strong showing from Liam Stirtzinger, the Brahmas rocked the stall tonight. The final of this one is just as exciting as the game actually was! Lone Star won in an exciting fashion, sudden death overtime! The Black Curtain was in full effect, as he stopped 27 of the 29 shots he faced. The Brahmas special teams were what everyone was REALLY talking about. The power play went 2 for 3, and the penalty kill stopped all 5 of the Ice Rays odd man chances. After an incredible line brawl, we finally went to overtime, where the Captain Lison, tipped a laser beam from Alexey Solovyev, into the back of the ole onion bag, giving the Brahmas the overtime winner AND the 2 points that they desperately needed.

The Brahmas will be back at the Nytex Sports Centre to take on the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on Friday, January the 17th at 7:30 P.M. Come out and cheer on your favorite breed of bull! See you there!
