NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX — The Lone Star Brahmas are pleased to announce the tendering of Tyler Johnson of the NAPHL Northstar Knights and Charlie Masek of Victory Honda AAA.

Johnson, 18, is in his second season of playing for the Northstar Knights and third season overall in the NAPHL. The 6’1/170 lbs. native of Superior, Colorado, has been a steady two-way defenseman for the Knights this season, scoring three goals and adding six assists in 18 games overall. In eight NAPHL games he has recorded three points.

“I can’t wait to start my junior career down at Lone Star,” said Johnson, regarding his tender. “I think that it will be a perfect fit for me and my family. I’m very thankful for God and everyone who has helped me get to where I am today.”

“We are very excited to be adding a defenseman of Tyler’s caliber,” said associate head coach of the Brahmas, Ryan Anderson. “Our Director of Player Personnel Mike Bloom did a fantastic job during the recruiting process. Tyler was one of first targets to tender going into this season. We started building the relationship with Tyler this past summer and we are thrilled to be welcoming the Johnson family to our Brahmas family. We expect Tyler to be able to jump into our lineup next year and play big minutes. He is coming from an extremely successful and well coached program with the Northstar Nights. Coach Galiardi will make sure that Tyler is ready for the NAHL South.”

Masek, 17, is currently the 18U leading scorer with 24 goals and 19 assists for 43 points in 31 games played in the Victory Honda AAA association. Hailing from Chicago, IL., the 5’9/174 lbs. forward also played on the Green Bay Jr. Gamblers 16U AAA team and developed in the Milwaukee Jr. Admirals organization.

“I’m very excited to be tendered with the Lone Star Brahmas and happy to be part of this great organization,” said Masek, regarding his tender.

“Charlie is one of the most dynamic players in the T1EHL,” continued Anderson on Masek. “Our Associate Director Of Player Personnel Jeff Kolcon identified Charlie very early this season and we are very fortunate to be able to tender Charlie for the upcoming season. We feel that Charlie will bring a scoring touch and competitiveness to our lineup from the moment he arrives in Lone Star. Coach Burke and the Victory Honda program have done a wonderful job developing Charlie for the NAHL.”

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team.
