Brahmas Name New Assistant Coach

Jun 1, 2017

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – The Lone Star Brahmas have announced the addition of Justin Hale to the coaching staff for the 2017-18 season. He will assume the title of assistant coach and has a background with focusing on goaltending.

“I am thrilled to be joining such a great organization like Lone Star. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity Coach Wildfong and the Brahmas organization have provided to me to continue my coaching career,” Hale said.

With Al Rooney’s acceptance of the Associate Head Coach position with the Austin Bruins coming shortly after the end of the championship season, the Brahmas wasted no time in naming a replacement. Hale spent last season as a volunteer assistant coach with Bemidji State University.

In addition to serving as an assistant coach on Tom Serratore’s staff, Hale handled the duties as BSU’s video coordinator. Prior to his time in northern Minnesota, Hale was the assistant coach and equipment manager of the United States Hockey League’s Madison Capitols.

The 26-year-old coach is excited to join the Brahmas in the coming weeks.

“The chance to work alongside Coach Wildfong and a talented group of young men coming off a Robertson Cup Championship, was a no-brainer. I look forward to continuing this standard of excellence in the upcoming season,” Hale said.

The feeling is mutual.

“We’re really excited about Justin,” Wildfong said. “He obviously is coming from a great program like Bemidji and has learned from a great coaching staff. He’ll bring a lot of experience to Texas and I’m really looking forward to not only working with him, but learning from him.”

Before starting his career behind the bench, Hale played four years of NCAA hockey at Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The former defenseman was a two-time runner up for the Division III Championship.

Hale will officially move to Texas in July prior to the Brahmas Main Camp from July 27-30 at the NYTEX Sports Centre.

He is currently scouting for the Brahmas across the United States and will be attending various USHL camps over the coming weeks.
