NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX — With 59 games in the books, the Brahmas will face Corpus Christi for a third straight game to close out their regular season schedule.
The IceRays and Brahmas faced off last week as well, and the two teams split that series with the Brahmas taking the first game and Corpus Christi taking the second.
Those were the Brahmas’ most recent games, as they have been idle this weekend, but the IceRays will be coming off of a two-game set with Shreveport — Sunday’s game will be their third in three days. With that being the case, the Brahmas should have the fresher legs, especially since Head Coach Dan Wildfong has plenty of flexibility with his lineup options.
After missing a few weeks with an upper body injury, Justin Addamo should be back on the ice for the Brahmas on Sunday. Tendered players Andy Willis and Jared Kucharek are available to play as well.
The Brahmas are sitting at 88 points on the season, and would probably like to get that to a round 90 with a win. Although this game ultimately won’t affect the Brahmas’ place in the standings as they clinched first place last week, it will impact Corpus Christi’s.
The IceRays are jostling for third seed with the Wichita Falls Wildcats — and the fourth seed will face the Brahmas in the first round of the postseason.
A victory on Sunday would be a fitting end to the winningest season in Lone Star Brahmas history and a good way to head into a weekend off before the fight for the Robertson Cup begins in earnest.
Playoff t-shirts will be available for purchase this weekend at NYTEX Sports Shop so fans can be ready to gear up and purple out Brahmaland for the first two home playoff games. Those games have been scheduled for April 14th and 15th. Puck drop will be at 7:30 PM.
The first weekend of playoffs will also be the first weekend that this year’s Lone Star Brahmas trading card set will be available for purchase!
