Brahmas Come From Behind For 3 – 2 Win & Series Lead

May 1, 2015

With the NAHL South Division Finals tied at one game apiece, the Lone Star Brahmas went into the Kansas Expo Center to face the Topeka Roadrunners in game three. Lone Star had the pressure on early until 2:46 of the first when Caleb Thompson was whistled for a weak charging penalty giving Topeka the first power play of the night.

The Brahmas went on the power play at 8:12 on a makeup call and were maintaining control in the offensive zone. Thompson dropped one for Alexey Solovyev at the near point and he rifled one off the crossbar with 11:48 to go.

Topeka got on the board at 11:04 afterMike Gornall, the Brahmas killer, stole the puck from AJ Vanderbeck in neutral ice and left it for Tyler Irvine just inside the blueline. Irvine slid it to Carlos Fornaris in the high slot and he sent a no look pass back to Gornall cutting to the net for a shot blocker side on Jake Kupsky.

With just 82 ticks left on the clock, Sebastian Vidmar picked off a clearing attempt at the point and sent it into the far circle for Oskar Andren who found Ludvig Larssonheading to the near post and he fired it over Tomek’s glove hand for the equalizer.

The Roadrunners jumped back on top at the 10:21 mark of the second after Sly Suttercorralled a loose puck just inside the Brahmas defensive zone and blasting it past Kupsky for the unassisted shorthanded goal. The goal ended up being the only tally of the second and teams went into the second intermission with the Brahmas down one.
