Brahmas bolster staff with new hires

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – The Lone Star Brahmas of the North American Hockey League add depth and diverse coaching experience to the organization. The Brahmas are pleased to announce the hires of Ryan Theros as Lone Star Brahmas Associate Head Coach and Christian Frey as Goalie Coach for the Lone Star and Texas Brahmas.

Ryan Theros: Associate Head Coach – Lone Star Brahmas
The Brahmas introduce Ryan Theros as the team’s Associate Head Coach following one season as an assistant coach for the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL. Previously, while in the NA3HL, Theros served as Head Coach / GM of the Yellowstone Quake. After leading the turnaround squad to the Fraser Cup Championships as a wild card in his first season, the Quake followed continued to find success with two division championships and Fraser Cup appearances. Theros remains the winningest coach in Quake history with an astounding overall record of 125-29-5-7.

Outside of junior hockey, the new Brahma has nearly a decade of coaching experience under his belt. Theros spent five seasons coaching with Holy Family Fire High School in Victoria, MN. As well as, a Lead Performance Coach and Trainer for Velocity Hockey Center in Eden Prairie & Edina, MN. The Minnesota native also serves as an Assistant Coach in the Da Beauty Summer League coaching professional hockey players, which includes over 60 NHL players.

Additionally, Ryan will serve as a special assistant coach for the Jr Brahmas programs. Brahma Land welcomes Ryan and his wife, Lindsey, to North Richland Hills.

Christian Frey: Goalie Coach – Lone Star Brahmas / Texas Brahmas
There will be a new face also working with the NAHL & NA3HL Brahmas goaltenders this season. However, Christian isn’t new to Dallas-Fort Worth or the NYTEX Sports Centre. The 26-year-old grew up in Texas youth hockey before playing five seasons in the USHL for Des Moines Buccaneers, Tri-City Storm and captured the Clark Cup Championship with the Dubuque Fighting Saints.

Frey played four years at The Ohio State University appearing in 87 games with a .913 SV%. While a member of the Buckeyes, Frey was named to the Big Ten All-Rookie Team in 2013-14 and Big Ten Second All-Star Team in 2016-17.

Fans can see the new team and coaching hires for the first time when the Lone Star Brahmas take the ice for the Southern Showdown Pre-Season Showcase here at NYTEX Sports Centre! The Brahmas will host the Shreveport Mudbugs, Corpus Christi IceRays and Springfield Jr. Blues September 6 – 8th.
