Brahmas announce first tendered player for next season

The Lone Star Brahmas are pleased to announce they have tendered their first player for next season. Local forward, Troy York, will suite up in Brahma purple for the 2015-16 season.

“We obviously think Troy can step right in. He’s a high offensive talent for us (to tender),” Brahmas head coach Dan Wildfong said. “We want to get as many local kids as possible. We think he will contribute a lot unless he ends up playing in the (United States Hockey League).”

York is currently playing for Adam Robbins with the Dallas Stars Elite U18 team. He leads all players in the T1EHL with 18 assists and 24 points through 12 games so far this season.

“The Brahmas are getting a good player with Troy. He’s a high-end prospect,” coach Robbins said. “He has a great shot and great knowledge of the game.”

The 5-foot-9, 170 pound forward contributes on both special team units with the Dallas Stars Elite program. Through a dozen games this season, York has six power play points and has registered at least one point in all but one of his games played.

“(This year) he’ll continue to get better and learn how to be a leader. Hopefully open the eyes of some schools,” Robbins said.

The Plano, Texas native is playing his third season with the Dallas Star’s U16 and U18 programs. Over that stretch, York has 33 goals, 47 assists, and 112 penalty minutes in 76 games.

Current Brahmas Johan Steen, Caleb Thompson, and Cody Wickline previously played on the Dallas Stars Elite U18 team. Their most notable alum is defenseman Seth Jones, the 4th overall draft pick in 2013 and currently a top four defenseman for the Nashville Predators.
