Brahmas acquire two in NAHL Dispersal Draft

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS — The Lone Star Brahmas have acquired two additional players from the 2020 North American Hockey League Dispersal Draft, taking place on Aug. 28. Players selected from the draft were originally members of organizations that opted out of the 2020-21 NAHL regular reason, namely the Kansas City Scouts and Corpus Christi IceRays. The two players selected by the Brahmas were Hunter Paine and Sebastian Sørensen. 

Paine is a defenseman, most recently playing for the Des Moines Buccaneers (USHL). In 32 games played, the skater recorded three points (1g-2a). Additionally, Paine was captain and a four-year member of the Duluth East High men’s hockey program in Duluth, Minn. He will join current and past Lone Star Brahmas players at Air Force Academy, as he is committed for the 2021-22 season. The 6’1” skater is originally from Duluth, Minn.  

Across the Atlantic Ocean, Sørensen is a 20-year-old right wing who suits up for the Gentofte Stars. In 28 games played, the 6’4” forward tallied 37 points (20g-17a) and accumulated a +12 rating. Sørensen has represented his home country of Denmark on various youth teams and on an international stage as well. The skater comes to North Richland Hills from Rødovre, Denmark. 

The 2020-21 NAHL season is set to start on Oct. 9.
