NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX — After a quick few days away from the rink for Christmas, the Brahmas coaching staff will be looking for their team to reset and get back on the right track this weekend against the Jackalopes.
Both Friday and Saturday night’s games are scheduled for a 7:11 PM puck drop.
If you are making the trip to the Permian Basin and plan to attend in person, tickets to both games can be purchased online or by calling the Jackalopes box office at 432-552-7825.
The Jackalopes have been one of the Brahmas’ more frequent opponents this season — they’ve already played six times in the first half of the schedule.
Record-wise, the six games have been split down the middle. However, the home team has had the edge. Odessa is 2-0-0 on home turf, while the Brahmas have won three of four at the NYTEX Sports Centre. This round, of course, is being played at the Ector County Coliseum.
The Brahmas’ leading scorer against the Jackalopes is forward Vilho Saariluoma, who has seven points in six games. He has been out with injury, but is looking to return this weekend — good news for Lone Star.
- It certainly has been a trying stretch for the Brahmas, who are 1-7-2 in their last ten games. That record is worse than the play has been — the team has been on the wrong end of quite a few one-goal decisions and have been looking stronger of late.
- The return of some key forwards from injury will lend a boost to a beleaguered offense. The Brahmas will be expecting Vilho Saariluoma and Nick Siffringer back in the lineup this weekend.
- The defensive corps has been contributing offensively lately, having scored half of the Brahmas total goals in the last two weekends. That’s a trend the coaching staff will want to continue, and if the forwards can get rolling, that should go a long way towards solving some of the Brahmas’ woes.
