NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – The Lone Star Brahmas, proud member club of the North American Hockey League, announced today that Director of Communications and Broadcasting Nick Marek has accepted the position of Broadcast and Media Relations Manager of the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League.

“I would like to thank the everyone at the NYTEX Sports Centre for welcoming me with open arms four years ago and truly becoming my family,” Marek stated. “From the Trazzera family for entrusting me, Chad Siewert giving me this opportunity and to all the incredible people I’ve gotten a chance to work with, thank you from the bottom of my heart. These are some of the best years of my life and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”

Marek joined the Brahmas staff prior to the 2014-15 season and was responsible for broadcasting games on HockeyTV, managing the team’s social media and website, creating graphics, and managing the rink’s website.

Over his time with the Brahmas, Marek participated in over 300 games between the NAHL Lone Star Brahmas and NA3HL Texas Jr. Brahmas.

The 26-year-old called the team’s first-ever Robertson Cup Championship in 2017 and was selected to broadcast the Top Prospects Tournament by the NAHL in 2018.

“I’ve had the fortune of working with some tremendous people in Brahmaland and wouldn’t be the person I am today without them,” Marek said. “I’ll never forget how much I learned sharing an office with Walt Ruff and Megan Kim over my stay with the Brahmas. I’ve met so many people and so many new friends that it’ll be tough to not call Texas my home. Additionally, I’d like to thank the billet families, off-ice officials and sponsors for all their support and hard work that go into making the Brahmas the best organization all of Tier II junior hockey.”

Megan Kim will assume the position as Director of Communications for the Lone Star Brahmas and NYTEX Sports.

“My wife, Amanda, and I are very excited about the next step in our life and will forever love this Brahmas family and surrounding community. When we moved here, the organization took a chance on us both and we landed on our feet together after graduating college. Thank you, additionally, to the fans for tuning in to all the broadcasts and interacting with us on social media. I can assure you Megan and Rebekah Bing will continue on the established success for the upcoming season.”
