NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – Lone Star Brahmas alumnus and Robertson Cup-winning defenseman Jakub Melisko has signed a professional hockey deal in France with the Bordeaux Boxers of Ligue Magnus, the top-tier pro hockey league in France.
After scoring 25 points and winning the Robertson Cup with the Brahmas in 2017, Melisko went back to Slovakia to continue his hockey career. Dealing with a few injuries over the course of the year, Melisko finished the season with Tier-II pro club HK Michalovce. He would go on and help them win the league championship.
The 21-year-old skater scored four goals and 12 assists over 46 pro games.
Melisko’s resume has been an impressive one with two Under-20 Championships playing for Pirati Chomutov* in the Czech Republic, a NAHL Robertson Cup and now a Slovakia2 title.
Melisko is the second youngest player on Bordeaux’s roster heading into the 2018-19 season.
*Ondrej Kase, current NHL player for the Anaheim Ducks, played with Melisko for the prestigious Pirates organization.
