NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX — With the preseason just around the corner, the Brahmas welcome back a familiar face. Justin Addamo has rejoined the team for training camp after a busy summer. “I think I worked out all summer,” Addamo said, smiling. “And then I went to the national team.”
Addamo’s arrival to North Richland Hills was, in fact, delayed due to his involvement with the U20 French National Team. Addamo played on the U20 squad last season and participated in the U20 World Junior Championship Division 1A Tournament and is once again a member of the team.
“There are new players this year, but it’s a good group, a good team,” Addamo said.
Addamo is looking to expand his role on and off the ice in his second year with the U20 national team. His level of play during their camp and some friendly tournaments over the summer was very impressive, and clearly, team staff took notice: Addamo was named Captain of this year’s U20 team at the conclusion of camp.
“I’m very proud. It’s an honor to be captain,” Addamo said.
Last year, France finished third in their division. They’ll be looking to improve upon that this year and get promoted to the top World Juniors tier for 2019.
Addamo hopes to take his team to that next level and finish at the top of the table this year. “I think I can lead the team to a good performance at the World Championship,” he said.
First, though, there’s more hockey on the table: Addamo will be one of just eight returning players from last year’s Robertson Cup-winning team and will play a vital role as the Brahmas look for a repeat.
“I’m excited to get the season started,” Addamo said.
The Brahmas open their preseason this weekend. They will play the Shreveport Mudbugs at 7:30 PM at NYTEX Sports Centre. Tickets are now on sale, so make sure you join us for your first glimpse at the 2017-18 Lone Star Brahmas in action.
