Lone Star Brahmas Sweep Rio Grande With 4 – 0 Shutout Win

Lucky 13 was on the mind of the Brahmas faithful as Lone Star wrapped up their weekend series against the visiting Rio Grande Killer Bees. The Brahmas had extended their NYTEX Sports Centre win streak to 12 games on Friday night with a come from behind 4 – 2 win over the Bees.

It took Lone Star less than two minutes to see stuffed animals littering the ice on Teddy Bear Toss Night with Bud Madej continuing his torrid weekend. With the Brahmas on the power play Alexey Solvyev sent the puck from the blue line toSebastian Vidmar at the far dot and he sent it across to Madej at the near hash for a wrister over Ben Johansson’s right shoulder. It quickly became a two goal lead whenPat Egan took a pass from Roman Uchyn in the neutral zone, skated it to the left wing and sent a low wrister on net. Johansson flashed out the right skate for a toe save andAJ Vanderbeck jumped on the rebound at 5:39.

With time winding down in the second, Solovyev dug the puck out of the near corner and sent it behind the net to Madej in the far corner. Madej flipped it to Vanderbeck at the blueline and the race was on. AJ skated it into the the right wing circle and with a defender on his back ripped it just under the crossbar. Time of the goal was 19:05.
