Last year, Emily Walker won the inaugural scholarship and is entering her second semester at Boston College. Emily and her family are thankful for Diane Hood and the NYTEX Sports Centre for allowing students like Emily to take advantage of this scholarship opportunity.
"We are so proud of Emily, we were absolutely thrilled that she was able to get into Boston College and even more excited that she was admitted as one of only 34 freshmen into the Carrol School of Management’s Honors Program. It is hard to put into words how grateful both of us are and Emily is to have received the Diane Hood Scholarship. College costs are an enormous burden for every family and we are no exception, please know that Emily is taking full advantage of her opportunity at Boston College. As a Jesuit college, Boston College believes in the concept of "men and women for others”. Emily has embraced the Boston College culture and is growing academically, athletically, socially, and spiritually. She is truly thriving. She is a double major in Finance and Spanish, she has joined the Figure Skating club, the Full Immersion Service Program, and the Student Admissions Program. Thank you so much for awarding this very generous gift to Emily. She considers herself very blessed to have this opportunity and your very significant contribution definitely helped to make this all possible."
