Wickline Commits To UMass-Boston

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – Cody Wickline announced his commitment to the University of Massachusetts-Boston this week, becoming the 20th Brahma player to have dawned a team sweater during the 2015-16 season and advance to the collegiate level.

After playing with the Brahmas over the course of three seasons, Wickline’s commitment is a long-awaited one, and he couldn’t be more excited to get started with the next step of his journey.

“Their assistant coach Tom Murphy, who coached me when I was 15, called me early in the summer and said I could come in and make an impact. They’ve got a win-first mentality and his team philosophy really appealed to me,” Wickline began with.

The Flower Mound native finished his North American Hockey League career ranking second in franchise games played and assists, while coming in third in all-time points.

“Cody’s been with us ever since we brought the junior program to North Richland Hills and he’s really been an exemplary player to have,” head coach Dan Wildfong said regarding the former #16. “Obviously we wish him all the best with his new team and we believe that their program is getting a really good player.”

UMass-Boston is a Division III NCAA school that competes in the New England Hockey Conference. The team’s nickname is the Beacons.

“Coach Wildfong and Coach Potter both gave me an opportunity three years ago and I can’t thank them enough. They helped me in all aspects of the game both on and off the ice. They got whatever they could out of me every day and made me really find out what kind of player I was for them,” the latest commit remarked.
